Eduwonk Shows us the Goodies and NYC Educator Plays the Skeptic

Eduwonk has a short post on the financial bailout bill and the little education nuggets that were added in to appease some people.  Most of the stuff focuses on rural schools, so nothing ground breaking.  However, it’s a nice anecdote to my previous post on how the bailout would send a ripple through the education world.

On the other hand, NYC Educator wrote a lengthy post last week on their take of the Economic Crisis. NYC Educator calls out the government and mass media for fear mongering and hailing the “Economic Armageddon” in order to get the massive bailout bill passed. They write:

In the end, the Congress will probably pass a bail out bill by the end of the week, the markets will be back up on the news, the boys on CNBC and elsewhere will be saying we’ve finally hit bottom in this (how many times have we heard that from the supposed “experts”) and then in a few more weeks the credit market will seize up again and we’ll be told we need to write another $___ billion dollar check or the world will end.

Perhaps bordering on cynical, NYC Educator still plays the important role of citizen defender when it comes to the bailout bill.
