Obama and McCain TV Ads Hit the Screens
Obama and McCain’s campaigns have both released a new ad each, targeting the other’s education platform and past work with education. Both were released on September 9, with Obama’s coming out first and McCain’s camp releasing their counter by the afternoon of that day.
Obama’s ad is weak, in my opinion. It throws election jargon around like “accountability” and the classic: McCain is going to cut funding for education. It asserts that McCain does not “understand” how to handle education. It’s nothing profound, but the fact that Obama took the step to release an ad strictly concerning education less than two months before the election says something to me about the message he wants to put out about helping American social issues.
McCain’s ad is no much better than Obama’s, but at least it quotes some news sources; although perhaps in a misleading way. For its finale, McCain’s ad, sticking with recent trends in their attacks on Obama, targets Obama’s passing of the sex education bill that mandates sex ed. at the K-12 level. Of course McCain’s advertisers ignore the fact that the bill created is for “K-12 Sex Education” and plays it off as if it was created specifically for the sake of educating kindergarteners on sex.
