Teachers and Students Finding Each Other Online

A self-described “online educational platform for teachers and learners,” WiZiQ is pushing the boundaries for the already bourgeoning online education industry.  The premise of the site is simple but really quite clever.  Establishing a community of teachers and students, WiZiQ sets a new standard for Web 2.0 applied towards education.

The quality of teaching sessions first and foremost depends upon the quality of the teacher.  It is unclear how qualified and capable WiZiQ’s teachers are and this should ultimately prove to be WiZiQ’s greatest obstacle in expanding and gaining popularity.  Nevertheless, the platform is truly impressive–to say the least.  Synchronous classroom discussion and an interactive whiteboard afford WiZiQ classes a notable facility for informal pedagogy.

While the purpose and platform of WiZiQ is inspiringly innovative, the courses currently offered fall somewhere between boring and vague. But then again, if “Simple Tips from Feng Shui for Abundance and Wellbeing” strikes the chords of your mind, you won’t have to wait for WiZiQ to mature out of the Beta stage and work out the kinks that currently preclude its success.  For the rest of us, the wait for WiZiQ’s growth and development begins.
